Hyper Dash (HD) | Wave Dash (like in Celeste), Long Jump, Collision Jump, Ricochet

How to do:

From the air (usually after a jump), dash into a walkable surface and quickly press jump. You'll be launched with the speed of the dash on a long distance, like a boosted bunny hop. It is possible on flat surfaces: the flatter it is, the more delay it needs between dash and jump.

Variations:

  • Element Hyper Dash (Poison/Steam/Nitro...) - As water form, do an Hyper Dash into a liquid to get the corresponding boost. The Poison version seems to be the most useful for now.
Note: Often used in the run, especially in the intro before getting the Form Dash. Seems conditioned to a higher framerate (ideally, 120fps no vsync).

Jump Switch (JS) | Element Switch, Switch Boost

How to do:

As water form, jump and switch at the same time, or at least in that order, to get a small boost up.

Variations:

  • Poison Jump Switch - When releasing the poison by jumping, delay your transformation to receive a big momentum up as One.
Note: Mostly used in speedrun as the poison variation, but the basic water Jump Switch still gains a small boost and allows to chain very fast jumps (See Form Dash notes).

Hyper Switch (HS)

How to do:

Combination of Hyper Dash and Jump Switch - Starting as water form in the air, dash into a surface and immediately jump > switch into One.

Variations:

  • Poison Hyper Switch - Combination of Poison Hyper Dash and Poison Jump Switch - Water form > Hyper Dash into Poison > after jumping, delay the transfo like for Poison Jump Switch > get a big boost up and forward.
Note: Allows to get a bit more height and distance with the Hyper Dash. Can help with jumps like this one.

Form Dash (FD)

How to do:

Dash just before a transformation to reach a very high speed. Usually stands for the aerial version, but works on the ground (quickly alternating each input).

Variations:

  • Form Dash Poison (FDP) - Press jump > switch > dash (with a precise timing). This will perform a Form Dash without switching to One, but staying as water form. Can be done to keep an item stored while performing a Form Dash.
Note: Very often used in the run after the intro. To chain them properly, start as water form > Jump Switch (jump>switch) > Form Dash (dash>switch) > as soon as you land as water form, repeat this cycle (it can get very fast).

Jump Kick (JK)

How to do:

From the air (usually quickly after a jump), do the kick move into a geometry corner to gain momentum up.

Note: This specific clip is from the older demo. It still remains possible but has been nerfed since then. Conditioned to a higher framerate (ideally, 120fps no vsync).

Void Infinite Dash | Infinite Dash Respawn

How to do:

Simply mash the dash just after respawning from a fall/void.

Note: This can not last very long and the game will make you void pretty fast

Jojo Glitch | Tube Glitch, Flying Glitch, Air-Lock Glitch

How to do:

Go into a water tube and simply restart from checkpoint (it needs to be in the same level). This seems to disturb the transition from ground to air and locks you into a walking state, unable to jump. You'll be standing onto an invisible floor with the possibility to work your hitbox up or down by entering in contact with the environment. Find the ideal collisions in the level design to navigate in the available space. It allows the Volcano Skip (follow this routing).

Note: The best spot to perform this is the portal going from Bastion to Volcano, in the underwater biome (there is a checkpoint just next to the first tubes). When active, the fastest way to move horizontally is with the ground version of the Form Dash (quickly alternating dash and switch). The best way to go up seems to be by mashing the switch (no dash) while facing an inclined wall.

Portal Glitch | Portal Wrong Load, Portal Escape Glitch

How to do:

Previously done thanks to the "restart from checkpoint" - patched. Still possible thanks to the glitch form (purple). Place a teleportation mark out of the portal, turn the camera away from this point, stand on the central button to activate the portal but quickly teleport back to the mark. The camera will turn to aim the mark you left, leaving enough time for the portal to activate just before you get teleported. Once escaped, the level will still unload and switch to the targeted one, leaving you unprotected and free for a few seconds...

Note: Can be used to unload walls and go OOB. Opening the start menu at a specific moment can allow the new level to load while suspending your position.

Glitch² | Glitch Glitch, GG

How to do:

As One, get affected by the glitch liquid but dash away from the edge of the pool to fall/void during the animation. After respawning, you'll be insensible to other liquids and to enemy attacks.

Note: This is a hidden liquid/color still accessible in the demo, giving us a glimpse on the future puzzles and exploits we might be able to do in the full game... No real use found yet but great potential for the full game and its most intense combat phases.

Cutscene Skip (CS)

How to do:

From the main menu, you choose new game, then the difficulty of your game and when you press enter, press down and enter relatively quickly. What it does is that for a brief moment after starting, you’re still able to navigate through the menu : going down and validating makes you choose CONTINUE. Right after that, move your stick forward, do a dash, jump and attack. You should be able to hear these actions during the black-screen the cutscene. The last input being an attack, you should also get a vibration from a controller.

To summarize:

Enter > Down > Enter > Hold stick forward > Dash > Jump > Attack

Note: The timings are comfortable, it is recommended trying different timings and picking the one that suits your playstyle or watch (and listen to) this. You know you did it right if One doesn’t talk right after the cutscene and there is no camera movement. It is highly recommended to have the sound of the game turned on, so you can hear your inputs.
Congrats, you did a Cuscene Skip (CS) and you unlocked new glitches!

LiveSplit - Timing Software

We use a software called LiveSplit, it allows us to precisely time our runs.

There is an auto-splitter out there, just type "Fading Echo" in the name section and you'll see an auto-splitter made by Streetbackguy.

Cheat Engine - Practice Tool

Teleportation tool using Cheat Engine for practice and route optimization.

Requirements:

  • Cheat Engine 7.5 or 7.6
  • Download the table file

Installation:

  • Download the table
  • Open the table by double-clicking it
  • Open the game
  • Open the game process in Cheat Engine
  • Check "Auto Assemble script" (Don't forget!)

Controls:

  • Press "C" to save your position
  • Press "X" to teleport
Note: If the teleportation is not immediate, move your character a bit. If you know the coordinates and if you are in the correct dimension, you can just teleport yourself anywhere.
TEST STATE: This is currently in a test state for Fading Echo v. 1.0.27280
